Sound and Vision’s collection policy covers the most important issues regarding collecting, selecting, cataloguing, preserving and providing access to AV material. This document also provides the context within which Sound and Vision operates and gives a global overview of the collection’s content.
Written for internal purposes to start with, this document is also expressly meant to be accessible to anyone interested in the composition and importance of the national audiovisual collection held by Sound and Vision. The clear description of its selection policy makes this document a guideline for all Sound and Vision stakeholders, namely regulators, subsidy providers, donors, associate institutions and users. The policy document can be used as an example or a model by other national audiovisual archives to (re)formulate their own collection policy.
In 2013 the Dutch version has appeared.
